Why is your sale 11 days, when others last only a long weekend?
Our consignors tell us they enjoy potential for HIGHER EARNINGS and LESS UNSOLD ITEMS with our UNIQUE BOUTIQUE FORMAT. Your items are offered for NINE DAYS AT FULL-PRICE, including two pre-shop nights, PLUS 50% OFF PARTY and FINAL DAY "SWEET DEAL" SURPRISE OFFER (if you choose)... 11 TOTAL DAYS!
Why do you charge a $15 Consignor Fee at registration?
There is a $15 Consignor Fee to participate in each Back on the Rack sale. This helps offset costs associated with space rental for our 11-day sale and marketing, so your items have the best opportunity to sell. We publicize through a combination of social media, email blasts, web campaigns, direct mail, sponsorships, advertising, public relations and other marketing vehicles.
Additionally, since Back on the Rack believes BIGGER ISN'T ALWAYS BEST, we limit the number of consignors who participate in our sales. Your non-refundable Consignor Fee, paid at time of online registration, keeps someone who's only checking out the sale for curiosity’s sake from taking a committed seller’s spot. A committed consignor is a great asset to shoppers. We want to make sure we continue to have the BEST consignors in Southwest Virginia!
Is Back on the Rack similar to brick and mortar resale stores?
It’s a similar idea, but there are key differences. At Back on the Rack, individual sellers from local families set their own prices. Other than guidelines our ACCEPTED ITEMS & GUIDELINES, we don’t pick and choose what to sell. Consignors decide what items they choose to offer for sale. Consignors who prepare their own items keep most of the profits... 60% to 70% of an item's sale price goes right back to the consignors. It’s really cutting out a middleman. Our consignors can sell more items and make more money from items they do sell.
Additionally, Back on the Rack is a "pop-up shop." Meaning, we don't have a traditional store you can shop year-round. We bring you a Children's and Home Decor Sale twice a year... Spring & Summer (usually in March or Aril and Fall & Winter (usually in September).
Is consigning (selling) items at Back on the Rack really worth my time?
Don’t worry, if you follow our quality, item preparation and pricing guidelines, we’re confident you’ll earn enough to make consignment worth your while. No need for the hassle and risk of yard sales, buy/sell/trade groups, apps and websites, or disappointment of resale stores. SET YOUR OWN PRICES and remain in total control of your items.
Should I feel guilty consigning (selling) at Back on the Rack, instead of giving my items to a friend or donating them to a charity?
Absolutely not! When you choose to participate in one of our sales, you're helping your family reach its financial goals, while helping other local #SavvyMoms reach their family's as well. You are also supporting a locally-owned small business. Our consignors are offered the option to donate their unsold items to a local charity. We find all these opportunities for Southwest Virginia families exciting and hope you do too!
Should I feel guilty shopping at Back on the Rack, instead of buying items new or shopping at a charity event?
Absolutely not! When you choose to shop one of our sales, you're helping your family reach its financial goals, while helping other local #SavvyMoms reach their family's as well. You are also supporting a locally-owned small business. Our consignors are offered the option to donate their unsold items to a local charity. We find all these opportunities for Southwest Virginia families exciting and hope you do too!
Where are my unsold items donated?
Each sale, we choose organizations that assist our local communities and align with our values. We are always searching for charities to benefit from our consignor’s generosity. If you know of an organization that could benefit from the donation of items, please let us know.
What if I am not available to pickup my unsold items at my designated pickup time?
If you can’t make it to pick up your items, you can have a friend or relative pick them up for you. All items picked up will be verified with the consignor name, consignor number, and/or telephone number. NO EXCEPTIONS. Any items that aren’t picked up after the designated time become property of Back on the Rack and DONATED on our behalf.
